(BAUDARTIUS, W.). Polemographia auraico-belgica. Viva delineatio ac Descriptio omnium proeliorum, obsidionum aliorumque rerum memoratu dignarum, quae, durante bello adversus Hispaniarum Regem in Belgii provinciis (…) gestae sunt. Amst., M. Colinius, 1621-22. 2 in 1 vol. (8), 454; 382, (10) pp. W. engr. ti., 2 woodcut armorials & 285 engrs. (numb. 1-285). 4°-obl. Cont. vellum w. overl. sides. (Owner's stamp on upper paste down, pp. 145-148 misbound, sl. browned else a very good copy).
First Latin translation of this important work on the first five decades of the 80 Years War written from a Contra-Remonstrant point of view by Willem Baudartius (1565-1640). The Dutch edition (Afbeeldinghe, ende beschrijvinghe van alle de veld-slagen) appeared in 1615. The lively engravings derive partly from Hogenberg's series of prints for Eytzinger's Leo Belgicus, but were adapted in size. The plates are numb. 1-285 (incl. engr. map of the 17 Provinces, num. portraits, sieges, plans and 1 double-p. engr.). - Brunet I, 703; Bibliotheca Belgica B, p. 205-206; Cf. Muller, Ned.
