Inscribed by the author to "His Excellency, Mr van Hogendorp, from the author, who begs to assure him of his respecttesteem (sic)". On many of the interleaved pp. an old hand has left annotations and corrections to the text. These seem to be by Dirk van Hogendorp (1761-1822), a Dutch politician and colonial official with Napoleontic sympathies.€ 100
