Originally published in 1868 as 'Ten Little Injuns', in which Native Americans played the leading role, and was released a year later as 'Ten Little Niggers'. The song was performed in the minstrel shows that were popular in America. The use of the word 'nikkertje' came under discussion at the end of the 20th century due to negative associations.€ 80
