First edition of a new translation by Janus Cornarius (actually Johann Haynpol, 1500-1558). Studied in Leipzig with Petrus Mosellanus, then in Wittenberg; travelled to Holland, England, France and Italy. In Basel he joined the group around Erasmus. He combined his knowledge and appreciation for Latin and Greek medical works with the most thorough classical philological studies. Above all, he made the greatest contributions to the restoration and knowledge of the ancient medical writers. - Ex libris Heinrich Dreyspring, Johann Philipp Höniger (1664-1740) and Johann Friedrich Ramsler. - VD 16, P 3280; Adams P-1448; Ebert 17127 ("selten"), Hoffmann III, 138.€ 700
