Large engr. wall plan of Leiden printed on 14 double-p. lvs., comprising a large plan of Leiden on 4 lvs., a panorama view of the city from the South on 3 lvs. (1 w. small split in lower blank margin), tog. 9 views of important buildings on 4 lvs., and 3 lvs. w. the title and 5 armorial engr., all engr. by C. Hagen. - Bound up with: "LUGDUNUM BATAVORUM". (Leiden), 1675. Plain engr. plan of the city by C. Hagen 'crowned' by 4 family crests (representing the mayors of Leiden) and the city arms, on top of a perspective view of the city seen from the South (NB without the 16 views on churches, gates, the academy building, etc.). - Also bound up with 4 copies of the central plan of the 'kleine Hagen' of 1675 in full cont. colouring w. letterpress captions attached to the lower margin: "Verdeeling van de Verscheide Vergrootingen der Stadt Leyden" - "Verdeelinge en Naamen van de XXVII Bonnen der Stadt Leyden" - "Verdeelinge van de acht Compagnien ofte Vaendels Schutterye, (…)" - "Verdeelinge en Namen van de Qartieren der Huyszitten-Meesters". - Tog. 16 double-p. and 4 full-p. plates in 1 binding. Lge-fol. 18th c. panelled and mottled cf., covers w. gilt ornamental rules, all corners w. gilt coats of arms of Leiden. (Plan of 'Grote Hagen' unfortunately w. rather clumsily closed tears and rumpled in places, no loss of image however).
Ad 1: One of the most impressive city plans of Leiden, the so-called 'Grote Hagen' city plan, made on a scale 1:1500 enabling Hagen to show lots of detail. When all the lvs. are conjoined measuring c. 1,65 x 1,80 m. - see at length Groenveld, Lei 017 about the history of its origin.
