LOW COUNTRIES -- THE HAGUE -- "CURIA HOLLANDIAE INTERIOR" - "CURIA HOLLANDIAE EXTERIOR". - (Amst., Blaeu, 1652). Fine engr. views, cold. by hand. 420 x 555 and 395 x 535 mm. Dutch text on v°.

Magnificent views of the 'Binnen-' and 'Buitenhof' at The Hague, possibly made by Roelant Savery (1576-1639). The Hague was the centre of power and the political hub of the Republic. The national government was seated in the Binnenhof, as were the Houses of Orange, who held a powerful position as stadtholders. Around the Binnenhof, the oldest government centre in the world, impressive city palaces for diplomats and regents arose. In excellent condition. - V.d. Krogt IV 1042 & 1043.
