W. 4 identical woodcut printer's marks. - Followed by: DE PSALMEN DAVIDS, vvt den franchoyschen dichte in Nederlantschen ouergeset, d. P. Dathenum. 1579. - Tog. 5 parts in 1 vol. Sm-4°. Later hcf. over wooden brds. (Spine rubbed, some wormholes in places (espec. at the end), several annot. in an old hand from the Somer family (see note), upper margin cut short, a bit browned/some faint stains in places).

The literature often implies the bible was printed in Dordrecht but Poortman states that this is impossible given the fact that Dordrecht was under Spanish occupation until 1572. - Lelong 734-736; Poortman I, p.112-114; Darlow & Moule 3298: "A new edition of the Emden Bible of 1562,61 (…). Published at the beginning of the revolt under William, Prince of Orange. The first Bible whose sale was authorized by the United Provinces of the Netherlands. - From the Somer(-Knaep) family (16th c., Zeeland).
