W. printed ti., 5 explan. text-lvs., 1 tinted lithogr. map of the 'Nederlandsche Westindische Bezittingen', 1 tinted lithogr. map of Surinam (+ duplicate!), and 18 magnificent cold. lithogr. plates by J.E. van Heemskerck van Beest. Loose as issued in later added sleeve, tog. in cont. clamshell portfol., bound by F.G. Koster (Amsterdam), w. gilt-lettered red mor. ti.-label on front side, w. ties. (Some minor wear to portfol., some foxing to text and plates as is typical for the paper that was used, some faint marginal stains in places, but a very good copy).

Hardly ever complete on the market with all the very fine, untrimmed plates called for. The views include 8 views of Surinam, 6 views of Curaçao, 1 view of Bonaire, 1 view of St. Eustatius, 1 view of St. Martin, and 1 view of Saba. - Landwehr, BWCPl., 465: "A splendid series of large scale finely coloured views of the Dutch possessions in the West Indies, printed by D. van Lokhorst, Utrecht. Among the plates possibly the first views on the 'Jooden-savannahs made by a Dutchman"; Van Kempen 7265.
