COURTOIS, Jacques, or Giacomo Cortese, called 'il Borgognone' or 'le Bourguignon' (1621-1676), attrib. to. (Cavalrymen on a hilltop). Drawing in brown ink on handmade paper, tipped in on mount, wm not detected. Paper size 136 x193 mm. (Ink spot and the name 'Guardo' (?) written upside down inserted in the drawing).

Four men on horseback, the man in the foreground riding with drawn sword, another, somewhat further away, blowing a trumpet. Left in the scene a dead horse is lying on the ground.
