(Margins trimmed close to plate edge, but in good condition).
When the Prussian troops reached the river De Vecht in 1787, Amsterdam was the last stronghold of the patriots. Here we see the officers of the armed militias and civilian corps from all over The Netherlands holding council of war around a map showing place names such as Utrecht, Westbroek and Loenen. On the back wall paintings of two putti (one holding the 'vrijheidshoed'), on the left a head with a trophy of weapons, on the right a head with a trophy of musical instruments. - Cf. Atlas v. Stolk 4844 mentioning a separately published letterpress broadside containing w. explanation. None of the 7 (!) variants described there however seems to correspond to this print. As far as we could determine this variant not in the collection of the Rijksmuseum. Rare.€ 300
