Representing the siege of the citadel of Saint Martin on the Île de Ré in 1627, which was carried out by English troops under the Duke of Buckingham and ended by French troops under Cardinal Richelieu. The focus is on a cartographic representation of the island off the French coast, on which and around which it is teeming with army troops and ships.
