Eight years after De Bry began the publication of his 'Great Voyages', Levinus Hulsius, stimulated by the success of De Bry's work, began the publication of a similar collection in 4°. It became one of the most important series of early travel accounts. Containing all the famous voyages by the Dutch and other nationalities to Indonesia, Brazil, North America, the Pacific, and various accounts of circumnavigations of the globe. Hulsius is credited with having exercised better judgment in his selections and translations than the De Brys. The set offered for sale here consists of first and later editions, similar to Church (vol. II) nrs. 256, 265, 269, 273, 278, 284, 286, 290, 292, 294, 296+298, 302, 305, 307-315, 317-319.
