Dumaine, 1847. viii pp. W. 14 Roman numb. plates, all preceded by an explan. leaf, of which 9 are delicately & contemporary cold. by an expert hand. 4°-obl. Fine cont. full red mor. w. richly dec. gilt back, gilt dec. centerpieces w. a crescent above an anchor and the letters "M" and "S" left and right, surrounded by gilt borders & w. gilt tooled corner fleurons, inside dentelles & all edges gilt. (Extremities sl. chafed/worn, margins faintly stained in places, a bit browned/foxed).

The gilt centerpieces on the binding are probably Osman marine symbols for "Marine du Sultan". Correspondance on provenance in French language between the French expert Marcel Destombes and Prof. Dr. C. Koeman (famous Dutch cartographer) is loosely inserted.
