Lancelot de Carle (also Carles) (c. 1508-68), Bishop of Riez, was a French scholar, poet and diplomat. He was in London in 1536, in the service of the French Ambassador, Antoine de Castelnau. There he witnessed the trial and execution of Anne Boleyn. He is especially know for his poem that he wrote on her life and death. This work contains the letter to King of France, Charles IX, containing the actions and words of M. de Guise (=Francis, Duke of Guise), since his injury until his death. He was murdered by the Huguenot Jean de Poltrot, during the siege of Orléans. - Not in Adams.€ 120
