Feyerabent, & heirs of W. Galli), 1563. (12), 178, (1) lvs. W. woodcut printer's mark on ti. and at the end, & 178 half-p. woodcuts by Virgil Solis. Charming 19th c. full red mor. w. raised bands, dec. gilt spine, gilt fillet borders on both sides, all edges red and dec. w. gilt crosses. (Extremities sl. chafed, previous owner stamp on v° ti., scratched out name entry on ti., tiny wormhole running throughout in upper margin, sl. browned).

The first edition with the illustrations of Virgil Solis and also the first with the notes by Johann Spreng (1524-1601). With strong impressions of the woodcuts. - Adams O-495; VD 16 O-1651 & S-8376; Schweiger II, 649. With bookplate of J.P. Heseltine (1843-1929) on paste down (see Thieme-Becker 15, 573).
