Second edition of a work that offers one of the earliest descriptions of what now is Ghana. In addition to a description of the region, the author also described the local rituals of the inhabitants. De Marees took a sociological approach to this. For example, he describes their family structures, religion, culture and the like. Since the author was on a trading trip, he also devotes several chapters to the local economy and trade. He also writes a lot about native fauna and flora. The intriguing plates are similar to the ones occurring in the first edition (1602). - Tiele 716; Cat Muller, Journaux, 150-1. Sold w.a.f., not subject to return.
