The late Gallo-Roman writer Saint Sidonius Apollinaris (c 431-487), born in Lyon, was Urban prefect of Rome until 469, patrician and senator and he was also the bishop of Clermont-Ferrand. His works are important because they document several political events and daily life in this period of change between Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages. - Adams S-1074.€ 240
