The last mentioned work was written by Louise Sophie Blussé (1801–1896), the wife of C.J.C. Reuvens, when she was 91 years old. Around 1860, she met a woman named Maria Leer, who had come to live in the Bethlehemhofje in Leiden. Leer had been one of the leaders of the "Zwijndrechtse Nieuwlichters" (also known as the "Christelijke Broedergemeente" or the "Zwavelstokkengeloof"), a religious sect that established a Christian commune on a small shipyard near Zwijndrecht in the first half of the 19th century. Blussé made notes of her conversations with Leer. Maria Leer passed away in 1866. More than 25 years after Leer’s death, Blussé decided to publish the notes she had taken. - Rare.
