LORENTZ, H.A. Amst., Kon. Akad. van Wetenschappen, 1904. 24 pp. [numb. 986–1009]. 4°. Cont. hcl. extra. (Cancelled blindstamp on ti-p.).
This work by the Dutch Nobel laureate Hendrik Antoon Lorentz (1853–1928) contains an essential step in acknowledging that there is no "true", "material" mass. It became known after being translated into English (Electromagnetic phenomena in a system moving with any velocity smaller than that of light, Proceedings of the Academy of Science Amsterdam [1904] 6: 809–831), but this is the earliest version, published in Dutch. 12-2, including several other contributions by Lorentz, and other Dutch Nobel laureates, including Zeeman and Van der Waals.€ 240
