Gerard Heymans (1857-1930) was a Dutch philosopher and psychologist. From 1890 to 1927, he worked as a professor of philosophy at the University of Groningen. Heymans is one of the most influential philosophers of the Netherlands and the pioneer of Dutch psychology.The establishment of his psychological laboratory marked the start of experimental psychology in the Netherlands. - Very rare first edition. - From the library of the Dutch philosopher/psychologist D.G. Jelgersma (1856-1930), with his stamps on free endpaper and title, and from the library of Leo Polak (1880-1941), who was Heymans' successor at the University of Groningen, with his bookplate/stamp.
