Letter in which Sömmerring thanks Brugmans for a publication about the eye of the giraffe and asks him that if he ever finds an eye bigger than a horse's eye he would like to see it. - Sömmerring discovered the macula in the retina of the human eye. His investigations on the brain and the nervous system, on the sensory organs, on the embryo and its malformations, on the structure of the lungs, etc., made him one of the most important German anatomists. Brugmans died four months after receipt of this letter at the age of 56.€ 200
