Like his celebrated father, Eduard, Gerard Sandifort (1779-1848) was an anatomist and physician whose interests lay in the depiction and preservation of pathological specimens. He edited the final two volumes of his father's Museum anatomicum and later produced this work for which he is best known: reproductions of skulls of various nationalities: "cranium Hottentotae", "cranium Boschjesmanni", "cranium Japonensis", etc. From the library of Jan v.d. Hoeven and w. his bookplate. - Very rare. Not on the market for a very long time.
