LOW COUNTRIES -- LEIDEN -- GOETZEE, M.J. "Leijden". N.d. Pair of drawings on wove paper in watercolour of 'de Leidse buskruitramp' which took place on 12 January 1807. 410 x 510 each. Both clumsily 'remargined' at v°. (Both a bit browned/faded, but in good condition).
Possibly copies of already existing views by Govert Kitsen (FMH 5719 & 5720) made by Martinus Johannes Goetzee (1756-1830)? A series of watercolours in the Utrecht Archives, made after prints from 1772, is signed in the same way. They are also of remarkably good quality.
