GRUEL & ENGELMANN -- PAROISSIEN ROMAIN d'après les imprimés français du XVme Siècle. Paris, Gruel & Engelmann, 1858. 704 pp, each page with elaborately illustrated vignette borders by A. Ledoux. Sm-4°. Full brown blind tooled mor. bind., spine raised in 6 compartments, board edges & turn-ins gilt, black endpapers printed all over in gold, closed with two metal clasps, fore-edge marbled and gilt, a.e.g. (Some light wear to extremities). -- Added: The same work, but bound in a red mor. bind. w. crowned niello silver monogram ('LA') on front side, board edges and turn-ins gilt, paste-downs and free endpapers of red watered silk, a.e.g. -- (2).

The lay-out of this book copies the style of the books produced by Gillet Hardouyn which were published in Paris between 1500 and 1520. Printed on fine laid paper.
