TYPEFACES -- BERGH, G. v.d. L'heure commune europeenne. The euroclock. L'orologio europeo. Die Euro-Uhr. Haarlem, 1958. 128 pp. W. 4 language screens. Owrps. Tog. in or. limp brds. portfol.

This is the only multi-language example of a style of typography invented by this Dutch professor and amateur astronomer, that he called 'Hoodfdletters, Tweeling- en Meerlingdruk'. Printed in bold sans-serif typeface with minimal space between the lines, but there is plenty of space when the appropriate language screen is laid atop the text. Van den Bergh thought that books are too expensive for students and that with his system 60 -70 % less paper could be used for books.
