Extremely rare, first published in Latin in 1696. Lindeboom col. 2044 ff: "V. published a new method of amputation in 1696. Using a special knife he spared as much muscles as possible and a big piece of skin; in addition he did not ligate the vessels, but applied a laceing bandage." - Lindeboom mentions a Dutch edition, but with a different title: 'Een nieuwe manier van afzetting in 't been' (Amst. 1696) (no copy found). Cf. BMN I, p. 309 (French edition of the same year); Wellcome V, p. 342 (French edition, Amst./Berlin, 1756). The plates show various surgical instruments for the performance of amputations and a man with a leg prothesis. - No copy in NCC, only 1 copy found: Herzog-August-Bibliotheek, Wolfenbüttel. - This copy was given to a previous owner by the Amsterdam physician Jacob Hovius, 24 Aug. 1778.€ 500
