The most extensive description of Zeeland based on the chronicles by Eyndius and Reygersberch. The 'Nieuwe Cronyk van Zeeland' remained unfinished due to disagreements between the towns of Zeeland regarding its content. The genesis of this sumptuous chronicle took more than 30 years! - Cf. at length Verkruijsse, Mattheus Smallegange (1624-1710): Zeeuws historicus, Genealoog en Vertaler, 1983, p. 343-400; Nijhoff/v. Hattum 282; Haitsma Mulier/v.d. Lem 445d.
