Cont. blind tooled cf. over wooden brds. w. tog. 8 brass cornerpieces, brass catches and clasps. (Spine ends a bit dam., lower margin world map split on fold and 1 o. small marg. tear, the other maps a bit browned/foxed, last map a bit dam. & outer margins cut too short, outer margin stained in places, slightly browned/foxed).

W. warranted license, dated 1656. Darlow/Moule, 3318 (1662). On the maps: Poortman I, p. 190. On the world map: Shirley 403: "The map of Dancker Danckerts is of particular interest because the central part is clearly from a much earlier and unidentified plate, probably dating from the early 1600s [= the worldmap by Arnold van Langren, cf. Shirley 186] (...) The original central map has been amended to show south-western Australia and part of Tasmania, marked A van Diemans Landt. The twin celestial hemispheres have also been added later, as has the banner cartouche supported by twin angels and bearing Danckerts' imprint." This bible was given as a wedding gift to Gerritje van de Wetering and Jan van Veldhuysen (1849). Inserted is a decorated occasional poem to Johannes van de Wetering and Elisabeth Blok (1820) and a decorated birth card of Johannes van de Wetering (1795).
