GUERRA, Giovanni (1544-1618), attributed. Old Testament Scene. Pen and brown colour wash. 110 x 115 mm. Laid down on mount w. caption "Tibaldi Pellegrino", a former attribution.
The attribution to Giovanni Guerra - see the old note on the back of the drawing - can be endorsed on the basis of comparison with other pen drawings of his hand. Very characteristic are the deep washes for the shadows and the representation of the heads of the figures in the foreground. Guerra has studied Old Testament stories several times and depicted them in detail. We suspect that in the drawing Moses and Aaron are addressed by God the Father (with a triangular halo).€ 500
