LOW COUNTRIES -- "SIÈGE DE BREDA". Paris, Isr. Silvestre, n.d. (1628?). Large perspective view of the siege of Breda by Jacques Callot on 6 conjoined plates. Under glass and framed. (Uninspected out of frame, but free from mount, a bit faded and slightly browned, surface a bit damaged where the plates are placed next to each other and on the crossings where the corners of 4 plates meet).
Impressive and detailed representation of the battle of Breda (August 27th 1624 - June 5th 1625) with the city in the distance and soldiers and encampments in the foreground, etched by Jacques Callot (1592–1635) and published by Israel Silvestre (1621–1691). Third state w. banderole "Siège de Breda" in the upper centre. - Meaume 510; Lieure 593; Muller 1512; Atlas v. Stolk 1604. Without the so-called 7th 'index' plate (nearly always lacking).€ 1000
