PHOTOGRAPHS -- SERIES of 14 albumen printed photographs: 9 of the 2nd Aceh Expedition and 5 of Weltevreden. Photographer(s?) unknown, all c. 1874-1880. 214 x 290 mm each. (Margins of all photographs damaged to some extent, but more severe in some cases (turned down margins, tears, fragments missing, etc.)).

All the photographs have captions in manuscript on the v°-side and they are all numbered in an old hand (present are the numbers 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20). The photographs i.a. depict soldiers of the KNIL (Royal Dutch Colonial Army) working on a bridge near Kota Radja, fortifications, military camps and also a Red Cross boat. The photographs of Weltevreden depict mainly buildings such as the house of the director of the medical service, the 'Landsdrukkerij', the palace of the Governor-General, etc. Deriving from the property of a Dutch family residing in Indonesia at the time. - Sold w.a.f., not subject to return.
