BAN(G)KA -- BILITON -- COLLECTION of 50 fine photographs showing i.a. the mining of tin ore at the Biliton mining company, landscapes, residents, fishing villages, chinese coolies, etc. N.d., (1930's). Each photo (174 x 238 mm each) laid down on cardboard mount and captioned in white ink. In 2 similar threaded cord albums w. stamped simili reptile cardboard covers.

The Billiton Company was founded in 1852 by Vincent Gildemeester van Tuyll van Serooskerken and John Francis Loudon, with financial help from Prince Willem Frederik Hendrik. On March 23, 1852, the company's founders obtained a concession on Billiton Island (present-day Belitung), after which the company was established. Photographer unknown.
