Finely bound in 19th cent. gilt and panelled crushed red mor., both covers with corner fleurons within (double) fillet borders, gilt turn-ins and edges of covers, gilt and ribbed spine, edges and endpaper marbled. (Joints partly splitting (upper joint worse), upper edge of title and following few lvs. very professionally strengthened w. very thin paper, partly waterwrinkled/waterstained, but an acceptable copy of a charming booklet).

An attractive copy of a fine late 16th-century pocket-edition. The chapters are indicated by the names of the 9 Muses: Clio, Euterpe, Thalia, Melpomene, Terpsoicore, Erato, Polymnia, Urania and Calliope.
