GALLE, Philip (1537-1612). (The Seven Wonders of the World and the Ruins of the Coliseum). 1572. Complete set of 8 engravings after Maarten van Heemskerck (1498-1574) on paper. Each 212 x 262 mm. (A bit soiled/thumbed throughout, vaguely stained in places, some small splits in places, the left outer blank margin of all sheets attached to strips of paper (as being formerly part of a binding which was later removed?), but a very good set w. ample margins).
Presenting the Great Pyramid of Giza - Hanging Gardens of Babylon - Statue of Zeus - Temple of Artemis - Mausoleum of Halicarnassus - Colossus of Rhodes - Pharos (Lighthouse) of Alexandria and the Coliseum.
