MARITIME HISTORY - TRAVELLING -- ALLARD, C. Niewe Hollandse scheeps-bouw, vertoonende een volmaakt schip, met aale deszelfs uiterlyke deelen, met nommers verklaard; als mede 't afloopend schip (…); noch een doorgesnede schip (…) voorts allerhande scheeps vlaggen. Amst., C. Allard, 1705. 3 parts in 1 vol. 56; 70, (2); (8) pp. W. tog. 208 (fold./double-p.) plates, partly cold. by a later hand. Plates are numbered: 1-82, 1-105, 1-20. In part 1 the first plate is unnumbered. Cont. vellum w. overl. sides. (Recased, new endpapers, plate 24 of 2nd part remargined, flags explained in pencil, faintly stained in some places).

Highly important work on ship-building, with not only plates of flags but also with many interesting plates of ships: war ships, sectional plates, shipbuilding plates, plates of shipbuilding tools and attributes, etc. - Extremely rare, first volume is a re-issue of the 1695-edition, the second part is original. The title of the 3rd part is "Byvoegsel tot de Niewe Hollandse Scheeps-bouw. - Cat. NHSM p. 744; cf. Bierens de Haan 42 (1st ed., 1st vol. only).
