Ad 1: Jean Domat (1625-1696), intimate of Pascal and entrusted with his private papers. This work is a selection of the most common laws in the collection of Justinian. Ad 2: Jacques (de) Cujas or Cujacius (1522-1590), "the father of the history of law", French jurisconsult and specialist on Justinian.
