(Map of the Promised Land w. split in central fold running into image, w. small tear in image and w. repair to v° outer left margin, plan of Jerusalem w. rep. on v°., all maps a bit soiled/thumbed, outer left and right margins short).
Rare complete series of the so-called 'second map series' by Petrus Plancius (1552-1622). The world map in its second state with the text 'Terra Australis/Magallanica' added to both hemispheres. Cf. Shirley 177; Poortman p. 129. The other 5 maps of the series by Van D. - depicting Eden, the Exodus Route, the Mediterranean, and 2 of the Holy Land - are all in first state, according to the identification details mentioned by Hollstein. The plan of Jerusalem is after Plancius and published by Cloppenborch as well, but is not signed by Van D.
