ACHTERBERG, G. Afvaart. Bussum, 1931. 64, (6) pp. Owrps., uncut. (W. traces of use, first endpaper partly glued to front cover). -- Added: Id. Cryptogamen 4. Amst., 1961. 244, (4) pp. Ocl. -- (2).

Ad 1: First edition with Achterberg's autograph dedication to Jan Vermeulen. In 18 places the writer also added notes in pencil, next to annotations in another hand, most likely Vermeulen's, especially with regard to publication data. It is likely that this copy was given to Vermeulen in 1943 when they first met: the date occurs twice in pencil, but also the date 1948 occurs. With Vermeulen's bookplate on the v° of front cover. "[…] Jan Vermeulen [was] voor Achterberg wat Eckermann voor Goethe en Gustav Janouch voor Kafka waren: ideale secretarissen." (Hazeu, Gerrit Achterberg, p. 385). Vermeulen worked at Burgersdijk & Niermans during World War II from where he could supply Achterberg with books. He later became the designer of many of the covers of the books by Jan Wolkers. Ad 2: With author's autograph dedication to 'Joop en Marietje [?] met een groet uit Leusden, voorjaar 1961'.
