Ad 1: The monthly De Gemeenschap was a modern but explicitly catholic periodical with an intellectual bent. As WWII approached the editors continued to hold an anti-fascist course; in 1941 the German occupiers forbade the publication. -- Ad 2: In 1934 A. Kuyle, one of the founding editors, took issue with (a.o.) the anti-fascist tenor of De Gemeenschap and left to found De Nieuwe Gemeenschap. This increasingly antisemitic periodical lasted until 1936. -- Lot contains several of the modernist covers by P. Schuitema and the special covers in silver foil printed by LUMAX, the printers' workshop that published De Gemeenschap until 1933.€ 200
