BALKEMA -- ZEHN KLEINE MECKERLEIN. (Amst., A.A. Balkema, 1943). (9) lvs. Sm-4°. Or. stab sewn wrps. (Cover split at spine and outer margin a bit chipped, cord renewed, front side a bit faded).

Satirical dipping rhyme consisting of nine quatrains by an unknown author, based on 'Ten little Niggers'. The text is said to come from concentration camp prisoners (in the last 4 lines the name of Oranienburg is mentioned). Printed in 40 copies only. Cover and leaves are stamped rather roughly by hand with woodblock numbers in red and green and with 5 primitive woodblock illustrations, possibly by Dick Elffers ('Dem Elften kleine Meckerlein' mentioned on the back cover might be an allusion to Dick Elffers). Scarce. - De Jong, 973.
