DIAMOND TRADE ANTWERP - MIHRAN IPEKDJIAN -- "(…) JOURNAL TENU PAR MONSIEUR MIHRAN IPEKDJIAN négociant en diamants à Anvers (…)". Dating from May 1 1902 - June 5 1908. 458 pp, lined paper r° and v°. Lge-fol. Cont. h. mor. (Bind. a bit worn/chafed, but in v.g. condition).

Meticulously kept account book of the Turkish-Armenian diamond merchant Mihran Ipekdjian (Constaninople 1863 - Kontich 1939) listing hundreds of names of buyers/relations and numerous (considerable!) transactions. Also with much detailed information on his merchandise: prices, carats, and types of 'stones'. Written in a legible (clerk's?) hand in French. Ipekdjian, who lived in Antwerp since 1889, settled permanently in the city (Vestingstraat 26) after his marriage to Makrine Takvorian (Constantinople, 1877 -?) in 1895, where their eight children were born between 1896 and 1913. Some names occurring: Seradjian, Pouldjian, Seth, Rabinersohn, Revashankar Jagjivan, Madhu Lall Doogar, Van Rijswijck, Mahdee Bin Ahmad Albassree, a.m.o.
