ZERNIKE, F. L'opalescence critique, théorie et expériments. (N.pl., n.pr.), 1915. 10, 76 pp. Ocl.

Rare thesis of the Nobel Prize winning Dutch physicist Frits Zernike (1888-1966). Critical opalescence is a physical phenomenon observed near the critical point of a substance, where fluctuations in density cause light scattering, making the substance appear milky or opalescent. It’s a key topic in statistical mechanics and phase transitions. - Cf. Van Berkel (a.o), A History of Science in the Netherlands, pp. 609-611. - Loose leaf with propositions inserted.
