Johannes de Ram’s very rare and beautiful map of Amsterdam, which is made after a map of Frederik de Wit. The present copy is the second state, with the gardens of the 'Plantage' filled in. The first state was published in 1678. The four women in the lower corners represent the four continents: Europe with a bull (Zeus); Asia with a camel; Africa with a lion; and America with an alligator. - Hameleers I, 79, 2nd state.
