This controversial novel was rejected by American publishers, but was finally accepted by the avant-garde Olympia Press in Paris and published in this two-volume edition. - First edition, first issue with "Francs: 900" on rear panels. - Provenance: this set was actively used as a working copy for the first Dutch translation of Lolita by Maurice Sigismund (Bob) Coutinho in 1958, published by 'Uitgeverij Oisterwijk'. It was the first edition of Lolita ever published outside the English language.€ 700
