The views in this work were made i.a. after drawings by Livinus Cruyl, or Lievin Cruyl (1634 – before 1720) who was a Flemish priest, architect, designer and engraver. The drawings he made during his extended stays in Italy and Paris contributed to the development of the topographical views known as 'veduta'. Dutch translation of a monumental and scarce complete work with all the plates called for on the history of Rome. - Schudt 555; Van Eeghen/v.d.
