LUCIANUS. Alle de werken. Nieulyks uit het Grieks vert. d. S. B(lankaert). Amst., J. ten Hoorn, 1679. 2 vols. (20), 714, (6); 869 (=877), (3) pp. W. engr. ti. & 12 fold. engr. by R. de Hooghe. Sm-8°. Cont. vellum.

Only Dutch translation of Lucianus's collected works. Lucianus holds a unique position in Greek prose literature, not only on account of his perfect mastery over the language, but also because of his amusing treatises. Best known probably is his 'True History', a rather long narrative, which suggested Swift's 'Gulliver's Travels', Rabelais's 'Voyage of Pantagruel' and Cyrano de Bergerac's 'Journey to the moon'. Ex libris J.P. Schumacher. - Geerebaert LVI, 6; Landwehr, R.d.H., 51.
