Important work on the history of Guyana, including Surinam, with maps made by the author Jacques-Nicolas Bellin (1703-1772) who set a very high standard of workmanship and accuracy. The work deals with native inhabitants, natural history and commodities. Among the maps are those of Cayenne, the Courou, the Commewijne and Maroni rivers to which are added 10 plates relating to the Indians, the fauna and the flora of Guyana. - Very fine copy in a beautiful binding. - Sabin 4551.€ 1000
