CARICATURE -- "CE FORGERON mijn goede Vrind Fait sortir de la Teste een Kind. Aen den Experten Hollandschen Hoofd-Smith". (1689). Broadside. Engr., 193 x 265 mm, above a letterpress text in 3 columns. (Margins cropped, traces of former hinging on v°, a tiny hole, but in good condition).
A forge of heads, cartoon of Father Peters and the Catholics in England. In a forge, the head of Father Peters is hammered by three smiths with sledgehammers so that the miller's child (the Prince of Wales) emerges from the head. On the ground on the left three orange apples at the feet of the foremost blacksmith (probably Prince William III), on the right the heads of kings James II and Louis XIV. A text in 3 columns is printed on the sheet under the plate. Anonymous print, for which a plate by H. Goltzius after K. van Mander was recycled. - Muller 2775; Atlas v.
