Jacob or Jacques Le Roy (1633-1719) was a Brabant magistrate and historian. He was lord of Chapelle-Saint-Lambert and baron of Broechem. Following Antonius Sanderus, he made several important 'choreographies' of Brabant and Antwerp, for which he wrote texts for illustrations by various artists. This magnificent publication seeks to depict in all their glory all the castles, estates, abbeys, priories, etc. of the Duchy of Brabant. Very fine copy of the second edition which differs much from the first (published 1694). - Following the description in Bibl. Belgica III, 848-51, but w. extra plates not mentioned there. From the library of F.C. Koch and w. his bookplate.
