(2), xxx, (2), 180; (2) 181-450, (1) pp. W. 1 engr. portr of the author after Rigaud & 15 vignettes by Eisen. Cont. cf. w. gilt dec. spine w. raised bands & red & black labels, gilt dec. sides & board edges, marbled endpapers, all edges red. (Spine ends dam., upper hinge delicate, back side w. small burn mark, annot. in ink on flyleaf, otherwise a very handsome copy).

In this poem, containing nine books of 1000 verses each, Polignac (1661-1742) refuted the ancient materialism of Lucretius and Epicurus, and that of his contemporary P.
